Energy Efficiency in Action: Measurable Cost Benefits
Unlocking the Power of Spintronics - PDFGlobal Food Distribution Center
Challenges
Extremely high refrigeration load across large freezer and cold-room estate
Freezers operating at 68.5 kW each, with cold rooms between 15-19kW
Rising energy consumption during warmer months (25% seasonal uplift)
Need for transparent, M&V-validated savings before wider rollout
Requirement for a sub-12-month payback investment approval
Solutions
The site deployed Emissis™ patented enPact® technology, installed across all (8) cooling systems. Using Al-driven optimization to:
Reduce compressor runtime (consuming 80-90% of refrigeration energy)
Use superheat-based control to regulate refrigerant flow
Increase latent cooling efficiency while maintaining setpoint temperature
Improve system stability without modifying site operations
Conclusions
The emPact® Refrigeration & Cooling optimization delivered substantial, validated reductions across this food processing site. With a 41.5% improvement across refrigeration assets and an 11.7% reduction on all incoming electricity, the solution far exceeded expectations and achieved results with zero operational disruption. The success of this deployment provides a clear business case for additional optimization across the rest of the client's estate.

Introduction
A high-demand, quick-service restaurant sought to reduce its rising energy consumption across long trading hours. With refrigeration, HVAC, and cooking equipment contributing heavily to electrical load, the site required a validated solution, that would deliver savings without operational disruption.
Solutions
Working together, the site deployed a combined two-phase technology optimization strategy:
1. ElectroDensity® (Power Alignment)
Reduced electrical load waste
Improved power quality to compressors, HVAC and kitchen equipment
Lowered kWh draw with zero operational impact
2. enPact® Cooling Optimization
Enhanced heat-exchanged performance
Reduced compressor runtime
Stabilized temperatures during peak and non-peak hours
Conclusions
78.60 kWh/day saved, equivalent to approximately $5,041.75 annually
11.1% savings on all electrical usage, throughout the entire site
21.9% reduction, with refrigeration, and cooling consumption
Additional Insights
Savings were adjusted for temperature spikes to ensure results were weather-independent. Combined ElectroDensity® optimization technology delivered the largest single-asset improvement (21.9% on freezer load). Results present a scalable model for rollout across similar restaurant locations.

A major hotel chain operating 24/7 was seeking to reduce its growing electricity costs. With high electrical demand from HVAC, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, lifts, and lighting—and the added complexity of onsite solar generation affecting baseline comparisons—it can be challenging to accurately assess energy performance.
Electricity consumption increasing across multiple high load systems
24-hr operation, leaving no window for downtime or intrusive works
Poor power quality and misalignment causing wasted kWh
Onsite solar generation complicating baseline comparisons
Need for transparent, independently validated savings
The hotel needed a solution that worked across all electrical loads without changing how the staff operate the site.
Solutions
Aligning voltage and current to reduce wasted energy
Filtering electrical noise
Improving efficiency across all connected circuits
Reducing unnecessary kWh draw from motors, compressors, fans, HVAC, lighting, and kitchen equipment
A robust measurement and verification (M&V) process compared consumption between2024 (before) and 2025 (after), with solar-generation hours isolated to ensure accuracy.
Results
32,954 kWh saved. Equivalent to four hotel bedrooms for one year.
$8,896 saved per year. That's more than $740 per month!
11.2% total consumption reduced across ALL electrical loads on site.
6.4 month payback. Fast enough to justify immediate multi-site rollout.
Additional Highlights
Despite the site generating part of its electricity through onsite solar PV, our technology still delivered 8.5% verified savings during non-solar hours, proving that the reduction in consumption came from the improved electrical efficiency, and not from solar contribution.
Conclusions
ElectroDensity® delivered substantial and verifiable energy savings for this national hotel chain, outperforming initial expectations and achieving a rapid 6.4month payback. By improving power quality across all connected loads, the site achieved measurable reductions in electricity use without any operational disruption, or changes to staff behavior. The success at this location provides a strong, data backed foundation for wider rollout across additional hotels within the group.
